Snowmobile Wrap

There’s nothing more eye-catching then seeing a snowmobile fly down the trail with some sweet graphics on the side and the hood of it. We know it can’t be a paint job. That snowmobile must have been wrapped. Now you’re wondering how to get your sled to look as sick as that one does, and how much is that snowmobile wrap going to cost you.

In this brief article we are going to give a brief description of what a wrap is, and roughly what the snowmobile wrap cost is.

Different Types of Finishes

A snowmobile wrap is a special vinyl material that is created to be flexible and adhere to many surfaces. Not only is it flexible, but it is also resistant to ultraviolet light. You can add different colors and designs to the material to customize the wrap however you want to.

There are many different types of finishes on wraps, but the main two we are going to talk about are gloss and matte finishes. The reason we are only talking about those two is because those are the most popular in the snowmobiling community.

Gloss Vinyl Finish

The gloss finish is the most popular for any type of wrap because it gives a cool shine to your snowmobile and whatever color or design you have. It sticks out in a crowd and makes your sled look brand new. It has a very similar finish to a clear coat or like a glossy paint. The texture is incredibly smooth and will protect the surface of your sled a lot better than the matte finish.

The gloss finish can also take a lot more of a beating. If you kick up a rock on the trail and it hits your wrap, it will be a lot harder to tell there is a mark on the shiny finish than the matte finish.

Matte Vinyl Finish

The matte finish is the complete opposite of the gloss finish. There is almost no shine or gloss at all on this finish. But a lot of people, me included, love the way this looks. It makes whatever color you pick look a lot deeper in depth. Some people describe it as “dull” or “flat,” because it is. But that makes it sound like it’s terrible. But the way it looks on a snowmobile is the opposite.

Trying to describe a matte color is very hard so here is an image so you can see for yourself.

One of the downsides to having a matte finish is it cannot take a beating like the gloss finish. If you get any sort of scratch or dent on the matte wrap, it’s going to stick out like a sore thumb.

Pre-Designed & Custom Wraps

When you are looking for a wrap, it is a good idea to do your research on companies that have wraps that will fit your sled. If you have a newer snowmobile, there is more than likely going to be a company out there that has a wrap that will fit it. You will have more a problem trying to find a wrap for your older sled.

I would say, the best company in the business to try and find a wrap would be ArcticFX Graphics. They have already pre made designs that you can pick for your snowmobile. It’s as simple as picking your sled, picking a wrap, and having it shipped to you. There also may be a dealer in your area that can even install it for you.

You can also go the route of creating your own custom wrap. There are two ways of going about this.

You can either bring your idea to a professional and have them bring it to life. They will use graphic design software to create the graphics and put them on a mock-up of your snowmobile.

OR

You can use the graphic design software yourself and send it to someone that can print the wrap for you.

Snowmobile Wrap Cost

Now, what the article is all about. How much is it going to cost for my wrap? A snowmobile wrap is going to cost you between $300-$800. This is going to depend on the quality of the wrap, who manufactured it, and whether it’s a premade or custom design.

Obviously, the more popular companies are going to be the more expensive ones. But there is a reason for that. They produce high quality wraps that will last, and they even make them easy to install yourself if you’re willing too.

I have heard so many horror stories on people trying to skimp out and buy a cheap wrap thinking it’s going to be good but it ends up being like borderline stickers you put on your yeti cooler. Remember, a wrap is supposed to help protect your snowmobile, not just make it look cool.

Installation Cost

Installation cost is another factor to consider when looking into a snowmobile wrap. The average cost to install a snowmobile wrap is going to be between $60-$250. You may think that that is a pretty big gap between the high and the low. Let me explain.

The cost all depends on who you have install it. If you have a friend that has wrapped a couple snowmobiles in his/her garage and finds it pretty easy and is actually good at it, they might charge you between $60-$100.

On the other hand, if you have a wrap shop that specializes in wrapping vehicles do it, that will be more expensive.

If you purchase your wrap from a reputable company, and they have a shop in the area, your purchase price of the wrap itself could also have a free installation in the deal.

But, it is only just a snowmobile, and it’s your baby so you could go the DIY route. I know of a lot of people that have taken on the challenge. You need patience, the proper tools, and the time to do so. It takes some people a couple of hours and it also takes other people a full day. Depends on how picky you want to be.
