ATV Wrap
When owning an ATV, chances are that you use it a lot and put it through the trenches of work. So you probably want to keep it looking the best you can. Then you might want to consider wrapping your ATV. An ATV wrap can help protect your offroad vehicle from all of the elements and everything you throw at it. Not only does it protect the machine, but it also makes it look fantastic.
In this brief article we are going to give a short description of what a wrap is, and roughly what the average ATV wrap cost is.
Different Types of Finishes
An ATV wrap is a special vinyl material that is created to be flexible and adhere to many different types of surfaces. These special wraps are also resistant to ultraviolet light to protect your four wheeler from the sun’s harmful rays. The cool thing about wraps is you can pick and choose and design, color, and type of finish that you want. Unlimited customization.
Wraps for any different type of vehicle are popular because they are…
- Durable
- Easy to Install
- Available in any design and color you want
There are many different types of finishes for vinyl wraps, but the main two we are going to talk about are gloss and matte finishes. The reason we are only talking about these two is because those are the most popular in the offroading community.
Gloss Vinyl Finish
The gloss finish is the most popular for any type of wrap because it gives a cool shine to your ATV and whatever color or design you have. It sticks out in a crowd and makes your ATV look brand new. Gloss finish has a very similar finish to a clear coat or like a glossy paint. The texture is incredibly smooth and will protect the surface of your quad a lot better than the matte finish.
The gloss finish can also take a lot more of a beating. If you kick up a rock on the trail and it hits your wrap, it will be a lot harder to tell there is a mark on your shiny finish than the matte finish.
Matte Vinyl Finish
The matte finish is the complete opposite of the gloss finish. There is almost no shine or gloss at all on this finish. But a lot of people, me included, love the way it looks. It makes whatever color you pick look a lot deeper in depth. Some people describe it as “dull” or “flat,” because it is. But that makes it sound like it’s terrible. But the way it looks on an ATV is the complete opposite.
Trying to describe a matte color is very hard so here is an image so you can see for yourself.
One of the downsides of having a matte finish is it cannot take a beating like the gloss finish. If you get any sort of scratch or dent on the matte wrap, it’s going to stick out like a sore thumb. This finish is more for looks than protection.
Pre-Designed & Custom Wraps
When looking into trying to wrap your ATV, it is a good idea to do your research on companies that have wraps that will fit your offroad vehicle. If your ATV is newer, there is more than likely going to be a company out there that has a wrap that will fit it. You will have more of a problem trying to find a wrap for your older ATV.
I would say the best company in the business to try and find a wrap would be RVinyl. They wrap all sorts of different vehicles, but they also wrap have the ability to do an ATV wrap kit for you. You can either pick a color you want, or create a special design for them to print.
You can also go the route of creating your own custom ATV wrap. There are two ways of going about this.
You can either bring your idea to a professional and have them bring it to life. They will use graphic design software to create the graphics and put them on a mock-up of your ATV.
OR
You can be the one to use the graphic design software and send it someone that can print the wrap for you.
ATV Wrap Cost
Well then how much will a wrap cost? This will depend on whether or not you want to do a full wrap or a partial wrap. The average cost for an ATV wrap is going to be around $200-$300 for a partial wrap and around $500-$600 for a full wrap. This is with high quality material that will protect the longevity of your ATV.
For obvious reasons, a more popular company is going to charge you more for your wrap because there is a reason they are the most popular. They are very good at what they do. Not only that, they have the highest quality material on the market, and make it easy to install for the DIYer.
I have heard so many horror stories on people trying to skimp out and buy a cheap wrap thinking it’s going to be good but it ends up being like borderline stickers you put on your yeti cooler. Remember, a wrap is supposed to help protect your ATV, not just make it look cool.
When looking for an ATV wrap, there are a couple pieces of information that you need to know off-hand.
- ATV Type & Brand
- Your ATV Material
- Which Parts You Want To Wrap
- Your Budget
- The Look You Want To Achieve
This will allow for you to properly communicate with vinyl wrap companies of your wants and needs.
Installation Cost
The installation cost is another factor to consider when looking into an ATV wrap. The average cost to install an ATV wrap is going to be between $60-$250. You may thing that is a pretty big gap between the high and the low. Let me explain.
The cost will all depend on who you have install it. If you have a buddy that has wrapped a couple of things in his/her life and they will do it for you they may only charge you like $50-$100 and a case of beer.
On the other hand, if you have a wrap shop that specializes in wrapping vehicles do it, that will be more expensive.
If you purchase your wrap from a reputable company, and they have a shop in the area, your purchase price of the wrap itself could also have a free installation in the deal.
But, it is only just an ATV, and it’s your baby so you could go the DIY route. I know of a lot of people that have taken on the challenge. You need patience, the proper tools, and the time to do so. It takes some people a couple of hours and it also takes other people a full day. Depends on how picky you want to be.
