The Cost of Buying a Snowmobile

The cost of buying a snowmobile is going to vary on what you specifically want. You could buy new, or you could go the other route and buy used. It all really depends what your looking for and how much you want to spend. Before you start looking at sleds to buy, make sure you actually figure out what you want and do your research on prices and specs before you go out and go shopping. There could also potentially be more costs associated with this decision, because if you aren’t in the snowmobile game, than you’re going to need all the gear as well!

The pricing that is in this article is based on an average adult sled.

Buying a New Snowmobile

Buying a new snowmobile is going to be a pretty penny. But there are a lot of upsides to buying a new sled you will read later on! A brand new snowmobile will cost you over $10,000. It’s hard to really hone in on an exact amount because there are a lot of variables associated to the cost of the sled. For example, what brand is it, what kind of sled is it, how big of motor does it have, what kind of accessories, etc. It’s basically like shopping for a car, but a lot more fun than a car.

Buying a Used Snowmobile

Buying a used snowmobile is a lot more reasonable price wise. For a good, solid used snowmobile, it’s going to be between $2,000-$8,000. Again, this price is going to depend on what you get. The newer they are and the less miles they have, the more expensive they’re going to be. If they are older and have some things that need to get fixed, than the less money they are going to be. But buying used, you always have room to negotiate and find a price you would be willing to pay. When buying used, I always recommend you do your due diligence and make sure you know what you’re buying.

The Pros & Cons of Buying New

Pros:
  1. Brand new, right off the showroom floor
  2. Will come with warranties
  3. Don’t have to worry about how the previous owner treated it
  4. Most power sports dealerships offer financing if you need it
Cons:
  1. Extremely expensive

That’s basically the only, and biggest con there is about buying new.

The Pros & Cons of Buying Used

Pros:
  1. Significantly less expensive
  2. You could potentially get a great deal with negotiating with a private seller
Cons:
  1. You usually can’t get financing for buying used
  2. There could potentially be mechanical issues with the sled
  3. You have no idea how the previous owner treated it

All of the Other Costs Associated With Snowmobiling
